Dear Friend,

In just a few weeks, the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21) will be held in Paris. Time’s Up representatives will be attending the conference and sharing our work with others from around the world. The small, incremental changes that we’ve worked for in New York for nearly three decades are transforming our city in visible and sustainable ways and we hope to exchange stories with activists working internationally on some of the same issues.

We have been leading a number of well-attended tours of the community gardens and local squats for groups of school children as well as visitors from other countries. As interest in local sustainability efforts grows, we are increasingly called on as experts in these areas.

If you haven’t yet seen our cellphone size “Talk Don’t Text” stickers, we’re enclosing one. We also have a video, part of our campaign aimed at raising awareness about the steep rise in injuries and deaths caused by people texting and driving.

As you may have heard, we recently lost one of New York City’s legendary environmentalists, and a dear friend of Time’s Up. Adam Purple, creator of the Lower East Side’s Garden of Eden lived for the past few years in our Brooklyn space, volunteering daily with Time’s Up.

Because of our unique relationship with the Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space, Time’s Up was able to hold a proper public memorial and archive Adam’s Garden of Eden and his other amazing achievements. Special thanks to all our supporters, who donated to Adam’s Memorial Fund, which included a green burial in Greensprings Natural Burial Preserve in Newfield, New York.

Unlike many organizations, we put your tax-deductible donations directly to work supporting our campaigns, educational workshops, and group bike rides. We are all volunteer-run, with little overhead and no salaries. Our annual budget covers expenses related to gardening, recycling, outreach, and other supplies needed for our many campaigns, workshops, bike rides and direct action events.  We ask you to continue to be part of our work by making a year-end contribution to Time’s Up!
