Time’s Up! “Shut Down Indian Point” Bike Ride & Sail Action

1) Bike Ride: Shut Down Before the Meltdown
7:30 am – Cyclist begin the journey from the Lower East Side up to Indian Point with a bike ride, Shut Down Before the Meltdown. Cyclists meet in front of 156 Rivington Street, Manhattan.
7:45 am – Bike ride leaves promptly!
8:15 am – Bike ride ends at Grand Central Terminal near the information booth
2) Train Ride: Grand Central Station to Verplanck (upstate NY)
8:15 am – Cyclists on the ride, and anybody continuing onto the journey to Indian Point, converge in Grand Central Station next to the information booth. Be on time! A quick action will take place very soon after dramatizing the impossibility of an evacuation in the event of a nuclear meltdown
8:30 am – All participants continuing the journey to Indian Point will head to board the 8:45am train to Peekskill Station.
8:45 am – Train leaves Grand Central to Peekskill Station.
9:45 am – Train arrives in Peekskill Station. Cyclists ride the 3 miles to Verplanck where the sail boat is docked.
3) Sail to Indian Point
11:00 am – 2:00 pm – Participants board the Clearwater Sloop docked at King Marine at 270 6th Street, Verplanck, NY, to make the 3-hr sail to Indian point and back again to the same dock. Two 50ft banners will be draped over the boat reading: “No Fukushima on the Hudson” and “Shut Down Indian Point Now!”
