RIDE TO FREE THE HORSES

Ride to Free the Horses
Saturday, December 8th
Meet 10:45am at Columbus Circle
SW corner of Central Park (59th Street & Central Park West)

Join us as we ride downtown on our Horse-Cycles (bicycles dressed up as horses) to City Hall for a noon press conference to introduce legislation to ban horse-drawn carriages from NYC.   We’ll gallop our way down to City Hall to ask for a better life for NYC horses.

The Carriage horse industry is an anachronism but it continues in the most congested city in the US. The horses are exploited for profit and forced to live and work a grueling existence in modern day NYC – all for profit and for a relatively few number of tourists. At the end of their “career”, most are sold to auction and eventually end up in the slaughterhouse.
