News Date: Wednesday, January 14, 2009 – 8:09pm

Biking is Grand: Bike Lane Liberation Ride

Saturday, Jan 24, 2 p.m.
Meet at the statue in Duarte Square
(Corner of Canal Street and Ave of the Americas in Soho).

Ride ends at 3pm with a pizza party in Little Italy to celebrate all the cleared lanes
(SW corner of Grand Street and Mulberry)

Are you excited about all the new bike lanes the DOT is adding around NYC, but frustrated about all the cars parking illegally in the  lanes? Then join the Time’s Up! Bike Clown Brigade as we clear out the vehicles from the bike lanes on Grand Street and other downtown streets by issuing “parking tickets” to motorists who endanger cyclists by parking in the bike lanes. We will use theater to draw attention to the serious dangers faced by cyclists without safe, protected bike lanes. We’ll also be educating the community about all of the social and environmental benefits of city-wide bike lanes. Love your lanes and keep them safe!!

Don’t have a clown outfit? Come along anyway to show your support for all the new bike lanes. The more love we give to the lanes, the more lanes we’ll see popping up around town.
