Cycling advocates and animal lovers formed a likely alliance yesterday at the 4th annual Time’s Up! Doggie Pedal Parade in the West Village. The group ride was intended to show off bicycles adapted to transport pets, as well as raise awareness about the benefits of adopting homeless animals. But we think the real goal here was to raise awareness of CUUUUTE!

After winding through the West Village, the ride wrapped at Washington Square Park, where animal rescue groups were on hand with dogs available for adoption. Homemade canine-shaped cookies were shared with the dogs, while the humans enjoyed tofu dogs. “The Doggy Pedal Parade is one way for Time’s Up! to promote a sustainable environment for everyone, including our four-legged friends, and build community among those who love them,” said ride organizer Ben Shepard.

Here’s video from the ride—note the thrilling appearance of celebrity helmet-wearing Chihuahuas Emmett, Mei Mei and Kiki Lu. They have their own blog, you know.
