Can’t get enough of Prospect Park West Bike Lane fever (or plague, as some opponents might call it)? Then join Time’s Up! on its Annual Ides (Pies) of March Bike Ride—meet at Grand Army Plaza at 2 p.m. The bike advocacy group says, “Feeling betrayed by the politicians who push to remove the City’s protected bike lanes and delay the construction of safe new bike lanes that save lives? Feeling betrayed by NYPD Commissioner Kelly who allocates scarce city resources toward discouraging cycling? Then get on your bike and join us!”
The group adds they will “demonstrate support for all bike lanes, including the protected Prospect Park West bike lane that is currently under threat by Marty Markowitz and influential ex-politicians Iris Weinshall & Norman Steisel, who care more about the availability of parking spaces for their cars than the safety of pedestrians and cyclists. Effigies of Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, will be riding along with us as we stop at notable bakeries along the way, including Junior’s (Marty’s favorite) and dance to music from the sound bike.”
As for the Pies reference, there will be a pie fight. If you go, you can share your pictures with us by tagging them “gothamist” on Flickr or email them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
