Join us for a ferry and bike ride to the annual Polar Bear event in Coney Island to welcome in the new year! We'll travel out and back along coastal greenways and on the boardwalk, traveling to and from the Bay Ridge ferry dock back to Corlears Hook. Some of us may spin off on other routes or take the Q, F, or D back to Manhattan. Total round-trip mileage is about 15 miles. Bring a bathing suit if you plan to go into the ocean and money if you'd like lunch along the boardwalk or in Brighton Beach at Tatiana's, for outdoor enclosed dining on the boardwalk.

Come join us to help make posters and banners for an upcoming demonstration and block party that will take place on Saturday November 6, 2021, 12-4 pm. [BLOCK PARTY details: Join community leaders, elected officials, artists, and residents to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the eviction of CHARAS/ El Bohio community & cultural center on 605 E 9th St (9th St between Ave B &C).

OPEN VAULT NIGHT

We will host a moderated discussion with newspaper editor Heidi Boghosian and photographer John McBride to recount their involvement with local underground newspapers, covering critical moments like the Tompkins Square Riot of 1988 and infamous Community Board 3 Cross Subsidy Plan, and to explore, with their insight, a selection of historic newspapers from our archive.
