New York, NY (May 20, 2010) – On Sunday, May 23rd, bicyclists will use baskets and trailers to take their dogs along for the ride in the Time’s Up! second annual Doggie Pedal Parade. The bicycle ride will demonstrate environmentally friendly ways to transport pets around the city and will include parade floats pulled by bicycles with signs educating the public on the benefits of adopting a pet from an animal shelter or rescue group.

Ride participants will cycle through the East Village with their dogs, listen to doggie tunes playing on the music bike, and end at the Washington Square Park dog run for a party complete with donated tofu hotdogs, vegan cookies, other snacks and drinks for all.

Cyclists who don’t have a dog are still encouraged to come on the ride or join the Safety Pooch Patrol to help escort the ride.

“This is going to be so much fun,” says Time’s Up! Volunteer Judy Ross, who rides the music bike. “Bike riders and their dogs, riding around, enjoying great music and a nice spring day, all while promoting the adoption of homeless animals and green transportation… What could be better?”
