Pedicabs
Pedicabs are a recent arrival in New York City. Similar to a rickshaw,
they have three wheels, two in back and one up front. The driver sits
up front, and passengers sit on a wide, comfortable bench seat in the
back. (Canopies and waterproof coverings are also available, as the
weather requires.)
Pedicabs operate like a taxi in that they take passengers for hire,
though without the frenzy and pollution associated with motorized taxis.
Pedicab ride prices vary upon distance and number of passengers, but
most rides are under $10. Take one on a quiet, romantic roll through
the park!
Pedicabs can do much more than just basic transportation. There
have been pedicab parties, receptions, weddings, and parades.
TV and movie crews hire pedicabs to get footage of New York City
streets -- and you can, too. Some pedicab drivers are licensed,
official NYC tour guides, who can take you for an informative tour
of select areas in the City. Call for rates.
Pedicabs operate mostly on weekends and during the evenings
in Greenwich Village, SoHo, Times Square, Midtown, and the
East Village. These two companies are friends of TIME'S UP! and
got pedicab service rolling in New York City:
