New York, NY (Nov 1, 2007) — On Saturday, November 3rd, Time’s Up! Bicycle Clown Brigade, made up of bicyclists dressed like clowns, will be “ticketing” motor vehicles that violate NYC traffic law Section 4-08 (e), which explicitly prohibits parking, standing or stopping in bike lanes and holds a $115 fine. The clowns will draw attention to what they believe the NYPD should be doing: enforcing the laws that protect bicyclists.

The Bike Lane Liberation ride ends with celebration at the new 9th Avenue bike lane that runs from 23rd to 16th Street. In the new bike lane, cyclists are physically separated from motor vehicle traffic by a lane of parked cars.

“We applaud the new DOT Commissioner’s commitment to improved bicycle infrastructure. Now it is up to the NYPD to enforce the law and keep the bike lanes clear of motor vehicles,” says Time’s Up! spokesperson Judy Ross.
